I will pick you up by car and we can have some dinner if you like.  We
can also stop at my house and get an extra bike for you, so that you
will have a bike while in Davis.  (This would reduce your time from
hotel to physics department from a 30-40 minute walk to 10-15 minutes
bike.)  

If it is not too much trouble, a bike would be great. I am going to rent one in Santa Barbara and brought a bike bag and headlight with me.
